Founded and run by Frederick county residents, the focus of our mission is giving back to the local community.

History

With limited budgets and resources, nonprofits have to juggle various priorities, and technology often takes a backseat.  On Mission IT was started to make technology services more accessible and affordable to nonprofits.

On Mission IT provides outstanding technology services at low or no cost to nonprofit organizations and matches volunteer technical talent to the needs of the community.

On Mission IT’s board of directors is comprised of the following passionate and dedicate people.

Jonathan Pollock

President

With over 20 years of professional IT experience, Jon has architected technology solutions across many different industries for organizations both large and small. He has an exceptionally broad understanding of technology of all kinds and its place in enabling organizational goals.

Jon started out as a C++ programmer at the tender age of 14 as an intern in New York. He then moved on to building and maintaining high-performance computer systems for a small startup selling things on the newly emerging Internet. He subsequently spent many years as an IT engineer for large corporate environments.  Currently, Jon is working to distill big business IT practices in to best-of-breed technology for smaller organizations and nonprofits.

When not working or playing with technology, Jon spends his time with his wife and five daughters on the family farm.  He is an avid virtual reality enthusiast and soccer player.

Ted Gregory

Treasurer 

CPA and Business Appraiser with 30 years of public practice and 16 years in private industry. Continuous learning leading to specializations in business valuation and human resource management. Audited and advised local businesses and governments, initially with an international firm and then with a large regional firm. Continuous leadership growth leading to managing partner before leaving public practice.

Exposure to the trials of entrepreneurship through long term ownership and leadership of a $13M restaurant and brewery group as a shareholder and officer.

Exposure to the full range of CFO issues with the takeover of an established company needing a complete complement of business solutions; development and financing of a $60M plant; and the challenges of a severe downturn in markets. Working with a company in an industry experiencing rapid, dynamic change and meeting the situational need for leadership.

Full circle – returned to public practice as a CPA focusing on Business Valuation and Accounting Services.

Patrick Haley

Secretary

Patrick M. Haley is an active member in the State of Maryland and the Frederick community. Mr. Haley currently serves, and has served, on many business, community, industry, and civic boards and councils throughout the State. Patrick is the Secretary for On Mission IT and is a football coach for St. John’s Catholic Prep. Patrick served as President of the Board of Directors for Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) and Chaired the Business Council for IHA. Patrick is the co-founder and former Chairman of the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc., Frederick County’s first incubator. For seven years, Patrick was a member of the Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC) for Frederick County and was elected as Chairman in January of 2006 and served as Chairman until the conclusion of his term.

In addition, Patrick is a member of the FBI’s Infragard Team, a member of the Chartered Institutes of Professional Management, and a member of the Entrepreneur Support Network for Frederick County. He has served terms on several other boards such as the Board of Directors of the Technology Council of Maryland, Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley, The Banner School Board of Trustees, Board of Directors of the Suburban Frederick Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Frederick Network of the Technology Council of Maryland, and past chair of the Incubator Advisory Committee for Frederick County. Patrick was named Frederick County’s Volunteer of the Year for 2003 and 2008 as well as one the Frederick County’s “People to Watch” in 2000. Patrick was named as an “Entrepreneur to Watch for 2009” by Smart Company magazine and Entrepreneur of the Year for 2010 by the Entrepreneur Council of Frederick County.

Patrick started his career in the US Navy in aviation electronics and automated computer test equipment. After his honorable discharge, Patrick attended Frederick Community College followed by Frostburg State University. He worked for the University running the Digital Logic
and Circuit Design Laboratory and worked as a network administrator for Alleghany County. Patrick has work for several firms at the Executive level in both the commercial and federal sectors. Currently, Patrick is the founder, President and CEO of BridgePath Scientific, a biotechnology firm headquartered in Frederick, MD. BridgePath Scientific was recognized as the 2010 Summit Award winner for Innovation, the Tech Council of Maryland’s 2010 Service Provider of the Year, and was a finalist for Small Business of the Year with the Maryland
Chamber of Commerce.

Patrick holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and lives in Frederick City with his wife, Mary, and four children, Michael, Rose, Ellen, and Sadie.

Elin Ross

Director

Until moving to the East Coast after college, Elin was a nomad, clocking time in California, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Indiana and New Jersey. She has lived in Frederick for 17 years. Her educational background includes a BA in biblical archaeology, an MA in applied anthropology and a professional certification in classical European pastry. She has more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit industry and is especially interested in social enterprises and in the intersection of charitable work and the communities where they operate. She has extensive experience in many areas of nonprofit administration, including marketing and PR, fundraising, advocacy, finance management, program development and implementation, nonprofit standards and strategic planning. Elin joined Federated Charities in 2015 as executive director and when she’s not lighting a fire somewhere (figuratively), she can be found experimenting with fermented foods, gardening, lurking at the local farmers’ markets and working with her incorrigible dog.

Maria Roat

Director

Maria Roat is a leader in transformation and innovation using technology for complex organizations and missions. She is the former US Deputy Federal Chief Information Officer with 40 years of executive leadership and professional experience in information technology and cybersecurity for cross-government enterprise-wide programs in multiple missions and sectors including, but not limited to, transportation, cybersecurity, finance, homeland security, disaster response and recovery, DoD and small business.

Maria served as the Chief Information Officer for the Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation Chief Technology Officer and at the Department of Homeland Security serving in a number of capacities including Federal Risk Management and Authorization Program (FedRAMP) Director, FEMA Deputy CIO, Chief of Staff for the DHS CIO, USCIS Chief Information Security Officer and CIO Chief of Staff, and Deputy Director, Technology Development, for TSA’s Secure Flight Program.

Maria began her career in the United States Navy as a Data Processing Technician and later worked for the Department of the Navy in various technology and engineering positions. Maria retired from the U.S. Navy in 2007, with 26 years of active duty and reserve service, in which she obtained the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, Information Systems Technician.

Maria is a graduate of the University of Maryland earning a Bachelor of Arts in Information Systems Management, Harvard Business School Executive Education Program for Leadership Development, and the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy.
